Now that you’ve meet our UES egg by Fumiko Toda, it’s time to visit Lady M Bryant Park!
Since 100% of the Egg Hunt’s proceeds goes to two charities: Studio in a School and Elephant Family, Béatrice wanted to incorporate both the elements of children and elephants. This her thought progress:
- If it’s a giant egg and for an elephant charity..
- …then it is an elephant egg.
- And since there are children involved…
- …it must be a flying elephant.
- A superhero elephant needs a fitting cape..
- …and thus we have, the Fantasy Egg-Scape!
From Béatrice: The egg cape can be worn by a giant egg or person. The cape depicts people and elephants living in harmony with nature. In this egg-xtravagant egg-strapolation, I dreamed of egg-centric shapes. The cape emphasizes the womb of new possible worlds.
We love it! ^-^
Have you see all the giant eggs around NYC?
It’s all part of The Fabergé Big Egg Hunt (which is also the world’s largest egg hunt!)
We’re delighted to be hosting two eggs. One is at our UES flagship boutique, and another is at Lady M Bryant Park.
Fumiko Toda designed the UES egg and it is a showstopper. The egg is called Satoru’s Trip, and we were lucky enough to chat with Fumiko about her inspiration and design process:
This image is originally inspired by Japanese landscape. My father, Satoru, is a former marine biologist. He recently retired and discovered his passion for mountain climbing. He sent me a photograph of beautiful, almost surreal-looking landscape filled with vibrant colors from his latest expedition. As soon as I received the picture, I started painting and collaging by cutting, tearing and layering pasted papers. The papers are often cutouts of my etchings, and I had the most wonderful experience traveling the mountain with him though art. I hope to share the experience with others through this artwork/egg.
Thank you, Fumiko! Our boutique is looking extra fabulous this month ^-^
