September Book Club

Hello to our Lady M Book Club members! And congrats to our August book club cake winner :)
We just finished reading two great books in August (book club post here). Pachinko by Min Jin Lee and Fleishman is in Trouble by Taffy Brodesser-Akner were completely different but both equally engrossing. For Pachinko super-fans (we know you're out there), did you know Min Jin Lee has another great book? It's called Free Food for Millionaires and was written a decade before Pachinko. We love reading multiple books by the same author over the years. You can see how their writing style evolves, and it's very satisfying to spot common threads running through different storylines.
Speaking of authors with multiple books...
Since October is around the corner, we're going deep and dark (been in a chocolate cake mood and we need a book to match!), getting ready for cooler months and Halloween. Who else better to satisfy this mood than Stephen King?

We're reading The Outsider by Stephen King this month. There's a brush of supernatural in this book, which makes it extra exciting. We'll start you off with a few favorite quotes from this book:
If you can’t let go of the past, the mistakes you’ve made will eat you alive.
Dreams are the way we touch the unseen world, that’s what I believe. They are a special gift.
I believe there's another dozen thoughts in my head lined up behind each one I'm aware of.
Did you know Stephen King has written over 84 books? That is amazing. The Outsider is one of his newest ones (he also published The Institute this month, but we're saving that book for a later date). This book (like many of his books) is a lengthy read, so pour yourself a nice drink and settle in for a wonderful and mysterious read.
See you back in a few weeks.
